Accountant and Northwest Vista College alumnus Robert Garcia defeated retired Palo Alto College professor Carolyn DeLecour on Saturday to represent District 9 on the Alamo Colleges Board of Trustees.

The District 9 runoff was the only election on the ballot in Bexar County on June 13.

Garcia received 57.52% of the vote in the runoff, which drew an extremely low turnout. Fewer than 2,000 voters cast ballots out of more than 150,000 registered voters in the district, for a turnout of about 1.3%. Saturday's election marked the fourth election day in Bexar County this year.

Garcia will succeed incumbent trustee Leslie Sachanowicz, who finished third in the May election and did not advance to the runoff.
